Bethlehem Lutheran WOMEN OF THE ELCA (WELCA)

“As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world.”

The women of Bethlehem are a very active group of women meeting three times a year – Guest Night is the third Wednesday in May, Annual Meeting and Thankoffering is in November, and a Christmas Brunch is held in December. We have a spring fundraiser and our annual breakfast bazaar is in October. Throughout the year we serve Lion’s Club dinners, soup suppers, funerals, and other functions that we are asked to help serve. We help Crisis Intervention Center with our gifts as well as other organizations that need financial support. We remember our elderly members with cookie boxes at Christmastime.

Lydia Circle and Martha Circle meet the first Monday of the month at 6:30 PM.

Sara Circle meets the first Tuesday of the month at 2 PM.

Each Circle has a monthly bible study and does mission projects throughout the year.

A Prayer Chain is implemented through our organization whenever someone is in need of our prayers.

Bethlehem Quilters meet every Saturday morning from January 1 to April 1. The quilters keep busy cutting, sewing, tying, and binding quilts for Lutheran World Relief and other organizations that need quilts. Women and children gather each Saturday for fun and fellowship.

A Quilting Class meets the second Thursday of the month to learn new techniques and patterns.
