Hope United Parish Pins and Needles

Pins and Needles is a ministry of Hope United Parish. Our members, who meet on Tuesday afternoons, include members of Bethlehem and Grace. We minister to each other as we visit, while creating stitches of love. You don’t have to be working on a project to come enjoy our fellowship and a cup of coffee! We make prayer shawls which are given to people who need a visible reminder of God’s ever presence in their lives. This site has been a valuable resource for us: Prayer Shawl Ministry. Most of our prayer shawls are delivered by Pastor Linda, but we have shawls available for the asking whenever there is a need.

Pins and Needles members make and collect items for Lutheran World Relief Baby Care Kits. Items are donated at both churches. Hats, sweaters, and blankets are knit and crocheted. Some of our members put their sewing skills to work making diapers, blankets, and hemming shirts and sleepers. We welcome donations of gently used and new baby shirts, sleepers, receiving blankets, baby socks, small hand towels, diaper pins, bar soap, flannel sheets or fabric, and diapers.

Many of our members work at home. We are grateful for donations of money to buy new yarn for our stash and to buy needed items for Baby Care Kits. Our meeting schedule changes, so please check our online calendar, newsletter, and bulletin for meeting times and place. To be included on our email reminder list, please send a message to hopeunitedparish@gmail.com and you will get an email before each meeting.

If you know of someone in need of a prayer shawl, please contact Julaine by calling 641-454-2611 or speak to Pastor Linda, Suzzanne Rye, or any member of our group.
